VET opportunities

Cavendish Road SHS provides students in Years 10, 11 and 12 the opportunity to study a variety of vocational certificate courses, as well as engage in traineeships and apprenticeships.
  
These courses are offered either by the school or through an external training provider such as local TAFE colleges.

The following opportunities are currently available to students.
  
Do you have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number?  From 1 January 2015 each student will need a USI to obtain their certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation. Find out more by downloading the Department of Industry USI poster (PDF, 115KB)

​Certificate II Salon Assistant ​Qld Hairdressing Academy - Stones Corner
​Delivered under the vocational Educational Training in Schools (VETiS) Program.
 
10 of the units in the Salon Assistant qualification cross over into Cert III in Barbering, so anyone who would like to become barbers can undertake this course.  VETiS funding applies to all students in Years 10,11 and 12.

​2018 Tafe Courses ​Tafe Queensland

The 2018 Tafe course selection is now available for viewing on the Tafe website.  Look through the wide variety of courses available on offer and if you would like to apply, see us in room B10. You will need a contact email address for a parent to proceed.  2018 is open now for applications.

​Scholarship ​Advance Queensland Scholarship Program

A Scholarship has been announced to provide an opportunity to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) at Tafe through a new Advance Queensland scholarship program. This is an opportunity for students and school leavers to gain higher level vocational education qualifications that will equip you for a career in science and technology.

The scholarship is $5,000 for the first year with the opportunity for a $5,000 top up in the second year if the student continues to university.

Applications are open to Year 12 students on 17 July, 2017 and close on 31 August, 2017.

SVETE is a way of creating a pathway to employment through structured work placement experiences. This also involves completion of the skills portfolio workbook aligned with your chosen career path.
 

This school to work transition program involves many industries such as:
