Bill Turner National Finals
SECOND IN THE NATION
Congratulations to our Bill Turner Cup U15 Boys, who finished 2nd in the National Bill Turner Cup Competition. This is a fantastic achievement and the best ever result for Cav Road SHS in the boy’s competition. Although the boys had a heart breaking 1 – 0 loss to Bossely Park in the National Grand Final, they can think themselves extremely unlucky as they only conceded an own goal in the 3rd minute after the second half break.
The day before Cav Rd enjoyed their first ever national semi-final win against Daramalan College, with a thumping 3-0 win over their ACT rivals. Goal scorers where Jake Byrnes, Jono Dover and Mario Perkic.
Congratulations Boys, 2nd in the nation, you have done us all proud!

Congratulations to Our Boys Bill Turner Cup Team
Our U15 Boys Bill Turner Cup Team has recently become State Champions winning the inaugural State Final against Kawana SHS.
The Boys have now qualified for the top four in the nation (out of over 500 schools) and will now contest the Bill Turner national Cup down in Lake Macquarie, NSW, at Edgeworth Football Club.
They take on Daramalan College from the ACT in the Semi final. If they are successful they will then play Bossley Park High School from NSW or Endeavour Sports High School from NSW.
GO THE GREEN MACHINE!

CAVENDISH ROAD FOOTBALL GIRLS DOING US PROUD!
BILL TURNER TROPHY
2-1 loss to Harristown
On Wednesday 5th August our Year 8, 9 and 10 Football Excellence girls played in the State Final of the Bill Turner Trophy. The final was against Harristown who has won the State final in years gone by but as the reigning state champions the Cav Rd girls were feeling confident of their chances. The girls played the entire campaign without a specialist goal keeper, despite this the girls were able to win their pool and elimination games convincingly. In addition to this, unlike many of the other teams in this competition, half of our squad comprised of Year 8 girls. These girls were able to overcome all of these hurdles as well as losing their Captain, Charlotte Boyes (Year 10), to a serious ankle injury in making the State Final.
The first half of the State Final saw the Cav Rd girls leading 1 nil. At half time we spoke about the importance of remaining focussed and not letting Harristown back into the game. The second half started and it was clear that Harristown were hungry for the win. The second half was dominated by Harristown scoring two goals and taking the win right from underneath us. Charlotte Boyes, Ebony Saunders, Chantelle Ryder and Year 8’s Emily Dunn and Lauren Brimlow played exceptionally well and showed great character giving 110% till the final whistle.
Thanks to all the girls who contributed to the team as managers, players or supporters! Bring on 2010!
METRO FINALS
1 Nil loss to Cleveland
On Wednesday 16th September the Cav Rd Year 8 Football team contested the Metro finals against Cleveland. This team consisted of girls from our Football program and girls who were just keen to represent their school. The girls played with much spirit and determination, however, Cleveland just proved too good to win the match. Cleveland scored the one and only goal following an attack and corner from the Cav Rd girls. The Cav Rd girls created many chances to equalise but were unable to capitalise on these chances. Again, the girls fought hard until the final whistle. Well done girls.
